Messages of support from celebrities for the AIDS/Lifecycle ride

http://www.accesshollywood.com/article/9723/celebs-give-messages-of-support-for-aids-lifecycle-7-riders

Scroll down to the video of Steve Carrell... At least we weren't running 5K's for rabies.

About 24 hours to go... It turns out that I most likely won't get to use my phone during the ride due to lack of electricity in the campgrounds. I still need to find a red dress to wear for day 5. Also, my shifters are acting up after I attempted to fix something that did not need fixing. It smells like degreaser and chain lubricant in my apartment. So many things to do with so little time, what a familiar setting.

Dunkin' Donuts ad pulled for scarf's 'terror link'

Who else to point it out but Fox News?

According to the Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin, the scarves are "popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos."

Here's a link to the full article:

1.) Dear Michelle: When you report something stupid, you look stupid. It's quite simple (At the same time, I recently blogged a hot sauce, but I am no news commentator).

2.) Dunkin' Donuts pulling that ad only means to me that they assume Americans are that dumb to be offended enough that it will hurt their sales.

3.) Are Americans that dumb that they will be offended?

4.)It just shows and reminds me of the all too common "making things of things that don't need making of" that runs rampant these days.

Taken from foto_decadent (Click for full post), these photographs are beautiful, inspiring and chic. I wish I can pull off photos like these one day and I also wish photography like this will return. I swear, these photos are like freaking poems.

Calling all "The Office" fans

We all know the American version came from the British version, but did you know the British version came from the Japanese version?

Carnaval San Francisco

I was awoken by the sound of a marching band and people screaming at the top of their lungs. I again had to "google" what was going on outside.

These photographs are in dire need of "burning". I am blessed with the greatness of iPhoto and Preview to edit my photographs.

My new camera: Leica Z2X

It takes 35 mm film.

For a while I have been looking for a new camera. The SLR's aren't pocket-sized, they scare people and they weigh the same as a brick. The Holga is expensive to develop and only shoots twelve exposures at a time. I initially wanted a compact digital camera but two things came to thwart my pursuit: printing and quality. I've noticed lately that many have been altering their images to look as if they were film and I've also noticed how few photographs people actually print. I have had one too many hard drives crash and a laptop that contained photographs of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans stolen. Hmm I am drifting away... Basically I needed a camera that had the qualities of portability and picture quality and I found it behind the legendary Leica name. Although the camera cannot be compared to "real" Leica cameras, I found the quality for the amount I paid worth it. Try riding 545 miles with a SLR camera wrapped around your neck. That was quite a ramble.

Satisfactory Progress

There's me on the left.

Despite my fears and worries of not being ready for the upcoming bicycle ride, I am now confident and looking forward to the ride. On Friday, I went on a 94 mile ride that left a good amount of salt on my face afterwards. The most enjoyable portion of that workout was vomiting on myself. In a fierce attempt to cough out one of the many insects I ingested that day, I simply coughed a little too hard, sparking a nice gag reflex with a load of pink goo wholesome with chunks to follow it. Afterwards, I rode in shame and disgust.

MMM Hot Sauce...

I never knew a hot sauce could so radically change my life in such a unique way... I bought this a few weeks ago and already it is near the bottom... I expect a week left of its existence.

I put it in all my marinades, on eggs, on chips, in vodka sauce to spice it up a bit...

You NEED to buy this:

I almost hit a deer today on my bicycle

Did a 108 mile ride today. My ass is going to hurt tomorrow. Beautiful forests, luscious greens, endless countryside with rolling hills... I was going 30+ MPH and this deer was going to jump out right in front of me to get on the road. Thank God he changed his mind but I ended up eating shit anyway. I couldn't imagine the mess that would occur to the deer if I had ran into him.... Right. What was really gross was seeing another deer dead in the bike lane. Ew... Approaching it, I could smell a dead carcass (I'm good at smelling carcasses) and knew there was a dead animal somewhere. Then there was the hand signal of debris from the cyclist in front of me... Just a different kind of debris.

12 more days until the aids/lifecycle ride... Donate here: aidslifecycle.org/5664

And the more recent Holga pictures...

Currently living in Chicago, K.M.D. (Kristina Marie Dove) was in San Francisco when the airline she was supposed to travel back on went bankrupt. I met this girl on the first day of 8th grade at Dwyer Middle School in Huntington Beach.

At Yum Yum House right around the corner from my apartment... I am so very disappointed they shut down... Unbelievably disappointed.
